The requirement for this project was to display a personal narrative. We were permitted to use up to 30 seconds of sourced media, however this project was 100% original content by me. To convey growth and progress through raw visuals was my goal for this project. Shaving my head was just a visual representation to show that sometimes it takes leaving something behind to move on.

This project's theme was a personal narrative, so it only made sense for me to act in it. Doing so, I opened whole new can of worms in regards to shooting on a tripod & working with camera angles that allowed to communicate a minimalist feel to the shots. It made filming a lot more difficult and time consuming, but led me to being proud of the finished project. Enjoy the raw visuals of Nascent.
I needed to use Premiere Pro in order to manipulate the footage in more ways than one. I knew since I would be shooting on a tripod, I would be limited to lack of movement. Thus, I chose to shoot in 4K, 60 FPS, which allowed myself to have more creative freedom when it came to editing. Speeding up footage and zooming in ¼ the frame was crucial to getting the shots I had envisioned.
My use of After Effects consisted of doing some rotoscope effects and using the keylight tool. Te purpose of the rotoscoping was to able to communicate a more upbeat feeling to the audience, having more friendly visuals. This effect had to be planned and predicted early on, being it effected how my recorded self would interact with the rotoscoped version.
